I just found out about your account because of a cinnaphos post you made on 2018 (one of them, i dont remember which tho) that randomly popped up for me while I was searching a panel from the manga and since then I have been looking through your tumblr and reading all of your analysis (especially the ones about Phos & Cinnabar) during all night and i loved them all so much and i totally agree with you in everything and you just put every thought and feeling and worries and doubts i have about hnk (and about cinnaphos) ans I just lost a whole night of sleep HELPPPP

as i was looking from your oldest posts till your latest one, i got a feeling that you kind of slowly died inside through all those years and from 2022 to now you seem to have gotten very tired (and more hopeless) about hnk, since your posts started to take longer inbetween gaps and you seemed to be talking less in your newest ones and posting less analysis so i got a little worried (though i know Ichikawa has started to take a liiiittle bit TOO LONG gaps between releasing new chapters and us hnk fans have been forced to take some painful breaks of the series) if you were actually doing alright and if everythings okay in your life in general, is it? (゜.゜)

by the way, i really wanted to ask you a very important question (i know that i will probably sob about it but i might also get hopeful depending on what you think):

do you think that there's canon evidence or, at least, a slight possibility that Phos and Cinnabar may end up being together? or at least come into terms, apologize to each other and have a happy ending for them and their relationship?? that something may happen and make that possible??? waiting anxiously for your answer! hugs, sweetie

hello there, this ask is the main reason i resurfaced for a few secs.

I am definitely alive and okay, sometimes I even update my twitter, I simply feel a disconnect with HnK and Tumblr after everything that happened. Also, now that I am a full time nerd with adult responsibilities, I have little free time to dedicate to this space, even if sometimes I miss this community and how we used to scream all together anytime a new chapter would drop.

Thank u for sticking by and enjoying my posts, carry on the cinnaphos legacy for me but do NOT lose sleep on these pebbles, take it from your internet grandma, take care of yourself. As for your question, I do not think Phos and Shinsha will ever end up together (except in the form of the seventh treasure, which I believe Shinsha ended up being, so yay?). Also, I hate to break it to you, but these rocks are no longer part of this plane of existence thanks to Phos praying everyone away and initiating 3rd impact. We can always dream tho, that's what fanfics are for.

Take my Ramblings on how I think relationships work between the Lustrous because 2/3 of my personality is made up of these gems' dynamics

So before I get into the main meat of what I think, I should probably talk about the families. first of all. I think that the families can have romantic relations between each other. Insert booing and rocks being thrown. Okay wait! let me explain myself before ya'll start abusing your rocks you heathens. basically, this is gonna get into territory that i'm not fully equipped to explain, so you know how the "Uchihas" from naruto are? they basically inbreed with eachother ya know but they still aren't fully related at all so they can have healthy kids but they still share the same dna, you could even say they share the same "structure"? yeah, thats basically how I think the gem family relationships are. they do share the same structure and name and call themselves family but they don't have to restrict themselves to JUST being siblings, they can be lovers too. they can call themselves "brothers" while being romantically involved. they aren't like us and they don't share the factor that we could produce unhealthy offspring if they are involved with their sibling, since they can't have children nor do they have blood!!(thankfully, since that would be insanely gorey) and I may be wrong but I don't think that the term for "Brother" in japan is only limited to siblings. fact check me if i am in fact wrong please.(Btw i'm not in the naruto fandom at all, I've just watched some theory videos and watched some video essays, also i watched a few episodes of naruto when I was younger)

Now, before I get myself hit with more rocks. time to talk about how I believe the gems' relationships are. mainly the romantic ones since tbr, romantic relations are some of the most complicated things ever and that's probably why we're so drawn to them (sorry romance nonfavorable/romance repulsed aromantics, you will be missed)

I personally think that romance in the lustrous world, is actually incredibly discouraged. these gems can still enter romantic relations but it is incredibly discouraged because, we have seen what happens when these gems lose that person that they love.

They go absolutely crazy. they even break themselves. and this is off topic but now that I think about it, Diamond and Bortz's relationship is like how trans people see other trans people who look more like what they want to look like, at least from what I've heard from some videos on youtube. and ngl, its kinda scary- anyways, back mostly on topic with Rutile. I've recently watched RGU(Revolutionary Girl Utena) and tbh, how Rutile treats Padparadscha kinda reminds of how Utena treats Anthy. Utena practically puts Anthy on a pedestal and wants to help Anthy end her job as the Rose Bride even though, Utena practically knows nothing about Anthy because Utena projects what she thinks is right onto Anthy, although it isn't entirely off, Utena doesn't even try to understand Anthy. JUST LIKE FREAKING RUTILE AND PADPARADSCHA- Rutile and Utena practically lose their identity when they lose Padparadscha and Anthy. just- UGH it's so good. Now time to stop talking about Rutile, and go to our very shiny friend and my Autoromantic/Panromantic/Polyamorous headcanon, being Diamond, since they were the one to bring up the fact that Cinnabar may have Romantic feelings for our beloved Phosphophyllite.

Dang both Ventricosus and Diamond ship CinnaPhos. they can't get a break lol. especially with most of the fandom practically shipping them lmaooo. And this is just a little headcanon but I think Diamond used that "Are you gay?" card on Cinnabar when Cinnabar was rambling about how much they "despise" Phos because that's practically what happens when these gems lose the ones they love. They probably start blaming the ones that got taken before they start blaming themselves because it practically starts becoming a pattern in Yellow's case. omg now I can imagine Yellow just talking about their romances with their former partners lol. and now that I think about it, Yellow did blame Zircon for being an idiot for trying to save Yellow, more toned down than Cinnabar's rant and how much of an idiot Phos was but still, that stings. and now this has become not just a little headcanon and more of a parallel it seems. wow, how we can change during writing.

ALSO DID ANYONE ELSE FEEL INCREDIBLY SAD WHEN THE GEMLUNARIAN THING THAT WAS KISSING DIAMOND IN THE PARTY AT THE END ARTBOOK WASN'T ACTUALLY NAMED!?

Honestlyyy tho howw do ppl still ship cinnaphos like cinnabar was such a BITCH like sure they had anxiety or whatever but phos gave them ample opportunities to grow and develop their relationship with them and the other gems and get reintegrated back in gem society and cinnabar was just like!! Nope!!! No thank you!!!!! All these talks about angst and dying gems and impending doom made me write a little HnK thing set in a human!AU where everything was bad but it’s gonna be alright in the end, somehow. It doesn’t even have a title but I still hope you like it!

Summary: Phos was always talking about them, so it was only natural that Cinnabar wanted to know how they were really like, Antarcticite.

Fandom: Houseki no Kuni Relationship: (mild) Cinnabar/Phosphophyllite Characters: Cinnabar, Phosphophyllite, mention on Antarc (who has tragically left us, I’m so sorry ;w;) Other: Human!AU, some angst and just the tiniest bit of fluff (also blushing Shinsha cause I have a thing for blushing Shinsha); roughly 1k words

“And how where they?”

Phos raised their eyes, gazing at Cinnabar’s red cheeks from over their hands, where their head was absentmindedly leaning. They smirked, a weak twist of the lips, almost scoffing, and turned their eyes to the black of the night around the two of them. It was chilly almost, even if it was summer by now, the air humid and earthy smelling after the rain.

“So?” Cinnabar inquired again. It was a delicate topic, they knew, but sometimes grief needed a little nudging to get through, or at least they trusted it was this way with Phos.

“They were so cool” they breathed “so cool, you wouldn’t believe it.”

“Uh-uh...”

“They- they were everything...”

Phos stayed silent after that, eyes sparkling with nostalgia and love, and what would become tears if they had kept on talking. All of a sudden Cinnabar felt guilty for inquiring. They didn’t think that speaking about Antarcticite would be a taboo for Phos, seeing how often they had been caught reminiscing about them, but that didn’t mean it wasn’t painful, even after years. They decided not to nudge further this time, allowing Phos their space. They squatted down next to them, hands on the railing and eyes cast downwards where Phosphophyllite’s own were still to the sky.

“I’m sorry,” Cinnabar whispered, not sure what to say or do next. Phos let out a little, breathless chuckle.

“I used to dote on them. They were so cool and strong and- and beautiful and I just started to follow them around like a little duckling because they were cool and I wanted to be cool like them. Gosh, that’s so embarrassing, they probably hated me for that.”

“I can relate to that.”

Phos nodded, a soft smile on their lips. “Also, they used to always dress in white for some reason, it looked good on them, I liked it.”

A low grumble in the distance promised more water, somehow Cinnabar had a feeling that Phos wouldn’t have minded, not even if it meant staying in the pouring rain like that. In that case, Cinnabar wouldn’t have minded either. It was summer after all, what’s a little rain? This was more important.

“I think you would have liked them, they used to always tease me.”

“Ohh, I like them already.”

“Yeah,” another chuckle. “I was bubbly, stupid, annoying, but they never treated me any different than anyone else. They were harsh at times, but always fair.”

Another pause, Cinnabar waited for them to interrupt the silence again.

“Shinsha?”

“Hm?”

“Sometimes I really miss them, you know.”

“I know.”

“Yeah.”

Almost gingerly, Cinnabar put their hand over Phos’, surprising themselves when Phos held it tight. They entwined their fingers with Phos’ then, a little more secure. Somehow, the silence didn’t feel too heavy.

“I hope I can be as good to you as they were, somehow...”

“Aww, now isn’t that cute?”

“Shut up, you idiot, I’m trying to be serious.”

“I know, you’re just like Antarc sometimes, but in the end you’re not and that’s what I like about you. You’re you.”

Cinnabar blushed at that, hoping that the night would hide the redness in their cheeks but knowing also that Phos didn’t need to look at them to know when they blushed, so they tried to divert the attention.

“Now, isn’t that sweet?” they said.

“Indeed, I’m the sweetest person you’ll ever meet.”

“And the most modest.”

“Excuse me? Of course, I’m full of virtues.”

“I’m sure.” 

“You should be honored, my awesome presence is a privilege few can afford.”

“Thank god.”

Phos gave Cinnabar one last teasing glance before they finally stood up, grabbing the railing with both hands as if it could held them in place, in the now. Now was a good time after all, things were flowing nicely, quietly, it was warm and the sun shined by day, except that now it was nighttime and the air smelled like rain and impending storms. Cinnabar gave it a short thought and decided once more that they didn’t mind: this, the weather, Phos’ fingers still brushing their hand, how their eyes were sparkling again. They didn’t mind at all.

What gems would the canon Diabortz be?

buckle up cause this is gonna be a /long/ answer, and, because it's my first ask

wellll I've thought about this for a while and my ziryellow fic on ao3 kiiiind of answers it? this isn't a traditional swap au where only the roles are swapped, cinnaphos are age swapped ffs but antarc's loss happens way before the whole encyclopedia thing

diabort doesn't change characters, but their dynamic does. dia's aggressive pulverize you persona comes way before they even go to the moon with phos and the others, whilst bort is... bort. in the canonverse, dia snaps way later in the story whereas in this au i made it wayyy quicker

planning to draw some sketches to elaborate more on this (like how instead of dia going to the moon, it's bort) and the pulverize you line stays in this fic except not in the way you'd expect (earth!dia says that to moon!bort more in a betrayed... way... rather than the whole inferiority complex they have going on in the canonverse)

I'm sorry if this is highly confusing for you 🗿 this au is very self indulgent and I'm afraid some things wouldn't make sense because of that (cause i just wanna see earth!dia with a whip in their hand yelling at a traitorous moon!bort, bruh)

tl;dr: diabort doesn't change characters, only their dynamic. think of it like if bort got paired up with bakugo or inosuke esque dia instead of the secretly cracking under the pressure dia
